Vocabulary Mirroring is a wonderful tool when we are speaking with someone who we do not know.
When small talking with someone – either in our professional or private lives – we have to find the words that they use, so that they feel happy and contented when replying to us.
Once we find the correct level – Level 1 (every day words that we use in normal speech – job), Level 2 (the are slightly more complicated words and sometimes used when writing – career) and Level 3 (words that might be considered to be academic or intellectual – profession) – we can continue on at that acceptable level.
It is extremely important to adjust to the level of vocabulary to the person who we are speaking to. If we fail to do this, then we might appear rude or arrogant.
